Keyboard Fundamentals Illustrated presents the important rudiments of keyboard study in a visual format that simplifies the learning process, increases student comprehension, and makes practicing more efficient. Though designed primarily to assist students enrolled in college group piano courses, the text also serves effectively as an instructional tool for students who study piano on a private basis.

Included in the book are keyboard illustrations of all the major and minor pentachords, major and minor scales and arpeggios (presented both hands separately and together), and the standard cadence pattern I-IV64-I-V65-I. Notated examples accompany these. Also included for reference is an illustrated chord dictionary and an introductory section that explains the essential concepts in a clear, concise manner.

Dr. Tom Pearsall is Professor of Music at Georgia Southern University where he teaches group piano and piano pedagogy. He received his DMA in performance and pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma. Before coming to Georgia Southern in 1993, he taught college group piano at Bowling Green State University and the University of Wisconsin-Marathon Center, adult group piano at the University of Toledo, and piano lessons for pre-college and adult students at the Wausau Conservatory of Music in Wisconsin. He has been teaching college group piano since 1983 and currently serves on the Executive Committee for the National Group Piano and Piano Pedagogy Forum (GP3).
